lady gaga - the fame monster (interscope)
December 01, 2009
Lady Gaga can often get a bit of a bum wrap, especially around the Artisan offices where staff have been known to rush to iTunes to turn her music off. However, for those of us who do find something appealing about her, she is this slightly eccentric and enigmatic pop star who has a similar air of ambition as to remind us of a young Madonna at the start of her career. There is a heavy focus on the look and the image however it doesn't detract from the fact that she also manages to make some very decent pop music. After a string of hits from her debut 'The Fame', she has returned with a new mini-album titled 'The Fame Monster', containing the current single 'Bad Romance'. Complete with controversial film clip, this has won itself an instant fanbase and seemingly eclipsed the success of nearly all her previous singles, except for the now athemic 'Just Dance'. The rest of the album has some very fine moments too, including 'Telephone' featuring Beyonce and the 80's retro fun of 'Dance In The Dark'. Love her or hate her, her second release proves that she is going to be more than a flash in the pan so you may as well jump on the bandwagon now.
