Temp Creative-Studio Finished-Artist Roles, Creative Web-Developer Recruitment, Freelance Digital Mac-Operator Jobs Melbourne

We are absolutely delighted to be shining the spotlight on one of our longest serving consultants working here at Artisan! This year he celebrated a whole decade of finding the best jobs for creatives through his role at Artisan Recruitment, and we couldn't be more pleased to give you all a chance to get to know him better via this quick little interview - folks, please welcome to the virtual stage... Mr Green Thumb himself... Mathew Hehir!

What’s your name?

Mathew Hehir

What’s your role at Artisan?

I'm a Creative Recruitment Consultant!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

In March of this year I celebrated 10 years of working at Artisan Recruitment! Hmm, what else? I love getting away and going on short trips over the weekend... I won the Easter Egg Raffle in Year 2, which was quite the achievement. Oh, and I have a real interested in the film industry - I was actually a producer on an award winning short film!

What is it that you do at Artisan?

I work with some of our key clients in the Government sector, and there are a lot of our regular freelancers that I’m talking to every week. Chances are that if you’ve called Artisan over the last 10 years, we’ve said hello on the phone! I’ve got a strong connection to the Design community, having worked as an Account Manager in that sector and placed freelancers and permanent space since starting with Artisan.

What do you love most about your job?

Getting to meet interesting and creative people! I’ve met a lot of friends and important people in my life through the Artisan network.

What makes a candidate stand out to you?

Confidence, technical and creative talent, and the ability to tell a good story! If someone has the capacity to make a connection with the team here at Artisan, we know that they will make good connections where ever they go.

What is the best advice you've ever been given?

If it doesn’t make dollars, it doesn’t make sense. There is a role and a place for everyone - live while you're able, get out and experience the world, just don’t spend the rest of your life paying it off though.

Tell us a random fact about you!

My latest hobby is growing and propagating plants, I’ve passed a few around as well. It's great seeing all the green in my apartment and sharing that with other people!

Which three websites do you visit every day - and why?

weatherzone.com.au - in Melbourne the weather isn’t something you experience just from looking out of a window, it's a way of life.

news.com.au - always good to be on top of global events and to know a little bit about a lot of things.

doublej.net.au - Every morning, this is what starts my day!

What's your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate - dark only. Wine - never rosé.

What were you doing prior to joining the Artisan family?

Prior to Artisan I was an Account Manager in the Design and Advertising industry. I was also a freelancer of Artisan for a little bit as well!

What's your best memory so far from your time working at Artisan Recruitment?

It's been an eventful decade, I wouldn't know where to start! I will say that my 10 Year Artisan anniversary photo shoot and celebratory BBQ with the team here in Melbourne was pretty spectacular!
